HIMSS12: What to Expect

It might be hard to believe, but it’s already February and that means it’s time for HIMSS12. This five-day conference is packed with speakers, exhibitions, workshops and more. Navigating around it can seem a little overwhelming. Fortunately, we’ve laid out everything you need to know to make the most of this great conference.HIMSS Collaboration

Your first opportunity to meet with the Care360 team is at the CIO Forum, also known as the CHIME Forum, being held on Monday, February 20. This intensive day of collaboration, exchange and networking for CIOs offers you a chance to meet with Care360 executives to discuss the challenges you are facing in your organization and possible solutions.

On Tuesday afternoon, the exhibit hall opens. Care360 from Quest Diagnostics will be in Booth #2813, which is right inside the main entrance on the upper floor. Stop by to see a demonstration of Chartmaxx and Care360 EHR or to get the answer to the secret question during the HIStalk booth crawl. You’ll also have a chance to watch Loop Rawlins, our on-site cowboy performer, entertain with rope stunts and tricks.

In addition to the main booth, we are hosting an exclusive, invitation-only executive reception on Tuesday, February 21 from 6-7:30 p.m. Meet members of the Care360 team while you enjoy specialty cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. We only have a few invitations left, so if you’d like to participate, send an email to info@Care360.com.

During the executive reception, you’ll find a whole slew of fun entertainment under the theme of “The Race is On.” We’ll have a PS3™ with the hottest racing game ready to play. You can even enter a raffle to win the PS3 at the end of the evening.

That’s not the only giveaway we’ll be having. You can also enter to win an iPad® 2 or tickets to a Cirque du Soleil performance. Gunslinger and Hollywood gun coach Joey Dillon will be there too, demonstrating his quick draw skills in a fantastic show. Afterword he’ll mingle with the crowd and teach tricks to brave volunteers.

That’s not all there is to enjoy while you are at HIMSS.

Social Networking

This year, social networking is a huge part of the conference and who better to get us excited than Biz Stone, one of the co-founders of Twitter.  He will be leading the keynote session on Tuesday morning. You can also hear from some of the hottest bloggers in healthcare at the HIMSS “Meet the Blogger” sessions. This year, there are three sessions being offered. The first is for meeting clinical bloggers like Brian Ahier and Dirk Stanley; the second, for meeting Health IT Bloggers like Jennifer Dennard and John Lynn; and the third, for meeting mHealth bloggers like Travis Good and Sherry Reynolds.

You can engage with HIMSS and other attendees using Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube:

Twitter — Start conversations and build new relationships with the #HIMSS12 hashtag. During the conference, Twitter will be used to get questions from the audience during Q&A sessions, and the latest #HIMSS12 tweets will be displayed in the convention center and Social Media Center.

LinkedIn — Join the HIMSS Group on LinkedIn and engage in discussions around HIMSS12, EHR, Meaningful Use, ACOs, ICD-10 and more.

YouTube — Get a behind-the-scenes look at the conference by viewing the HIMSS Channel on YouTube.

Additionally, HIMSS12 will have a Social Media Center to help attendees gain insights on how social networking can be used in the healthcare field.

HIMSS12 has over 300 education sessions to choose from in 26 different topics including electronic health records, mobile health and Meaningful Use. Visit the site to sort through sessions by keyword, topic, date or speaker.

Search for Exhibitor

The Venetian Sands Expo Center can be a daunting space to navigate, especially if this is your first time attending the conference. The HIMSS website has a great feature that helps you find the location of every booth. You can find Care360 at Booth 2813 in Hall B. We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
